Dyes impart colour to fuel. Our DYEGUARD range of dyes are manufactured in liquid form and are in heavy aromatic solvent solutions for easy addition to fuels and solvents. They are suitable for handling at oil refineries and terminals and even on bulk oil tankers for dosing as the oil is being discharged.
Markers are colourless chemicals when added to fuels, which can be detected by either adding a specific reagent to produce a colour that can be measured, or by placing a sample of fuel directly into a portable spectrophotometer to obtain a quantitative result in the field. Further testing under laboratory conditions to produce firm evidence for any legal proceedings can then follow the field testing.
