REACH
REACH, the European Union legislation for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals, is intended to protect human health and the environment from potential risks arising from the use of chemicals.
It became law on 1st June 2007 and its implementation will take 11 years to complete. It is expected that during this time approximately 30,000 chemicals will have been registered and characterised according to strict guidelines.
As a manufacturer of specialty chemicals and dyes, John Hogg has always been committed to ensuring that its products are manufactured and used as safely as possible.
We have consulted closely with both our suppliers and European customers and established main points of contact. We have assurances from our suppliers that they are aware of their obligations under REACH and that the raw materials we source for our production , shall continue to be available in the quality and quantity we need.
As the REACH process continues, we shall be asking customers for information on the applications for our products, and the methods of handling employed, so that we can compile the necessary documentation to support the continued use in the future.
Accepting fully our Supplier obligations under REACH, we ensured that ALL our raw materials and products were pre-registered by the December 2008 deadline, so John Hogg Technical Solutions is now fully compliant.
Our intention is that all components of our current products will go ahead to the Registration stage at the appropriate time. Since this depends on the volumes used in Europe, some of the products may not need to be registered until 2018. However, eventual successful registration will depend on many factors, some of which are not under our control. Any product which we supply under contract to our customers will be supported at least for the duration of the contract.
As the 2013 2nd registration deadline approaches, John Hogg Technical Solutions will continue to play a leading role in the SIEFs and Consortia necessary for the efficient registration of high volume fuel dyes. In some cases John Hogg Technical Solutions will act as Lead Registrant or Consortium Manager.
