From 1st January 2026, Norway will adopt Accutrace™ Plus as the official fuel marker for off road diesel, replacing Solvent Yellow 124. This change is part of a broader European initiative to improve fuel traceability, reduce fraud, and address environmental concerns.
If you’re a fuel supplier, trader, oil company, or retailer operating in Norway, now is the time to prepare. At John Hogg, we’re here to help you navigate this transition with confidence.
The Euromarker is a chemical marker used across the EU and several non-member states to differentiate between taxed and untaxed fuels. It plays a vital role in:

The marker is typically added at refineries, fuel terminals, or import points using marker dye concentrates. These concentrates are tailored to meet each country’s specific legislation, including dosage rates, colour requirements, and operational setups.
Accutrace™ Plus, developed by Dow, is a next-generation fuel marker containing 76% butoxybenzene as its active ingredient. It was selected to replace Solvent Yellow 124 for two key reasons:

From 1st January 2026, Accutrace™ Plus will be the mandatory marker for off road diesel in Norway. Until then, Solvent Yellow 124 remains permitted. We recommend the following actions for fuel suppliers and businesses in Norway to prepare for the change:

To support this transition, John Hogg has developed a new Dyeguard® marker concentrate product containing Accutrace™ Plus . This product is:
Fully compliant with Norwegian legislationAs a leading fuel dye manufacturer, we’ve ensured our solutions meet both regulatory and operational needs across Europe.
