The ChallengeHigh-quality solvent dyes colour a wide range of oil-based liquids and are integral to the manufacture of leading lubricants, NDT and aerobatic smoke products. However, there’s now an increasing industry need for lower-hazard alternatives, which improve safety and deliver the same high levels of performance.
Naphthalene?Naphthalene is a chemical that is commonly found in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, which are complex mixtures. When naphthalene is in a product over a certain percentage, it must be labelled with the hazard class H351 (carcinogenic). During the refining process, it is possible to reduce the naphthalene content. Our improved solvent system has had the level depleted to below 1%.
The SolutionWhatever the colour requirements, technical specification, handling needs, industry or application, John Hogg can deliver a speciality dye solution to match. Our innovative lower – naphthalene (NF) range includes high-quality, vibrant solvent dye options that help to minimise environmental and health hazards, without compromising on performance.
Our NF products have been developed by identifying the key challenges within the industry, and making sure that our products can provide our customers with an appropriate solution to these challenges.

Our speciality NF Range delivers innovative lower-hazard solutions without compromising on quality or accuracy.
As a leading manufacturer of dye and marker technologies we work with over 70 countries across the world.
“Our products work effectively for all lubricant and OEM standards, allowing greater flexibility for any operational usage, and a stringent NF manufacturing process reduces any hazard to operators.”
